Elephant embryo

The unsourced image above is making the rounds on Facebook asking for prayers for this premature elephant. As Snopes and other sites point out, this baby is not "fighting for its life." It is already deceased, having had no chance at life after being (presumably) miscarried by the mother or (possibly) removed from the womb after her death. The Damien Zone makes the case rather vehemently that the embryo pictured would not have been viable, but quotes a doctor. and an elephant welfare organization neither of which show up in a Google search. Suffice to say that after 22 months' gestation, newly born elephants weigh upwards of 200 pounds (90 kg) and stand 3' (1 m) tall. Our prayers and efforts would be better spent on the living elephants being driven out of existence at a rapid rate for their tusks.
