Cave canem

Another mosaic discovered at Pompeii reads, "Cave Canem" - "Beware of the Dog." When plaster casts were made of the hollows in the lava spewed by Mount Vesuvius, one of the victims was a dog that had been chained at a residence. Replicas of this famous plaster cast are produced en masse by the Studio Trisorio in collaboration with the Museo Vesuviano and the Pompeii Tourist Board in Naples. I've always wanted to go to Pompeii, Italy, but I'm not sure this is the souvenir I'd bring home.
