Taking down a Triceratops

If you were a Tyrannosaurus rex (pictured above) with the opportunity to kill and feed on a Triceratops, here's how you'd do it:
Grab the animal by the frill of the neck to reposition it for eating. “It's gruesome, but the easiest way to do this was to pull the head off.” Nibble on the tender meat found on the face. Take care, if you are younger, that you don't damage your teeth.
This research - the results of which have just been published in Nature - was based on a reexamination of 18 bite-scarred skulls and bones in the collection of the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana, U.S.A., by staff paleontologist Denver Fowler and colleagues.

  1. So basically, to a T-Rex, a Triceratops is pretty much like a crawfish. Humbling.
