Shark shadow

It was just a normal day at the beach last Friday for June Emerson, her 12-year-old son Quinn, and his friend. They are frequent visitors to Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles, California, where the boys surf. It wasn't until mom was reviewing the snapshots she took that she saw something a bit frightening. To the right of the boys, in the wave they are staring down, is the silhouette of what appears to be a shark! (If you can't make it out, watch the video here.) Sharks are not unknown to the area, and although the local surfers and lifeguards are unable to identify it from the photograph, they do believe it to be one of them. Says Ms. Emerson, "It was quite a shock to see....Of course, I told my kids it was dolphin."
