Old

There's no other way to say it, and it is in fact a badge of honor. In the foreground of the image above is a rare Seychelles Giant tortoise, photographed on the island of St. Helena circa 1900. The animal may have been a curio for Hudson Janisch, Governor of the British Overseas Territories in the South Atlantic in the 1880s. Today – 33 governors later – "Jonathan" still resides at the official residence. Although Jonathan's obituary has already been penned, nobody, Including current governor Mark Capes, wants him to die on their watch. At the ripe old age of182, Jonathan may be the oldest living land creature. He is now blind due to cataracts and his beak has become blunt and soft, so a bucket of fresh fruit and vegetables is delivered to him every Sunday morning to relieve him of having to forage. But the nutritional boost has made his skin supple, and you will be happy to know that his hearing remains keen and he can still belch.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ROOMMATE OLA WHO HAS REACHED 101 TODAY!
