Grateful raven

A family in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, Canada, noticed that a big black bird sitting on their fence had been crowing for upwards of an hour. When they went to investigate, they found that the bird – a raven – had had a run-in with a porcupine and had the quills to prove it - three in the side of his face and one in its wing. The bird let them approach and then this happened. “It reminded me of a child with a splinter and when you pull a splinter out, they holler and screech and pull their hand away,” said mom Gertie Cleary, who did the honors. According to the astonished family, the bird hung around the fence for the rest of the day.
