Snake farm stand-off

A drama unfolded yesterday at the reptile farm in Homestead, Florida, where namesake Tom Crutchfield sells lizards (including blue iguanas, albino iguanas, and hybrid blue iguanas like those pictured ), tortoises, frogs, salamanders, crocodiles, and snakes. The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a call of an armed gunman. Crutchfield had been grazed by a bullet after an altercation with his business partner Bruce Stephenson, who then barricaded himself in a building on the property. After a stand-off of almost 8 hours, during which they were unable to talk him out, officers moved in and discovered Stephenson dead. They did not reveal the cause of death, but have opened a homicide investigation. "The story of the stand-off at a Homestead reptile farm has more twists and turns than a snake slithering through the jungle."
