Tree tales

An 18-year-old German hiker found a bone on the forest floor recently. This led to the discovery and recovery of a skeleton 11 meters up in a tree. In 1980, a 69-year-old retiree climbed the spruce, tied himself to it, and shot himself to death. There he remained for 29 years until his remains were found and identified by DNA and an artificial hip. Because the story did not have an associated photo, I have included this image of the "bicycle tree," located in Vashon Island, Washington.
