Dissection by Leonardo da Vinci

In his notebooks, Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1509) makes reference to dissecting ten human bodies. This is credible, though it can't be corroborated, because these would have been private dissections. As a successful artist, he was allowed to dissect in hospitals in Florence, Milan, and Rome. He completed 200 illustrations for an anatomy text that wasn't published until long after his death.
