Swedish house (and its secret) for sale
C'mon in. If you are drawn to this blog and happen to want to move to Sweden, you may be interested in this property listed for sale by Fastighetsmäklare Leif Bertwig. The house is located in central Visby on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. Renovated 10 years ago, it has 5 rooms on 2 levels and a south-facing patio.
The upper floor offers a large room with hardwood floors, a sloping ceiling, and skylights; bedroom with marble-tiled full bathroom and walk-in closet; another bedroom; and a small balcony.
The marble-floored main entrance is on the ground level, which has a living room with exposed stone wall and fireplace, spacious fully-equipped kitchen with stone floors, office/bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, and small storage room.
But the surprise is in the cellar. This house comes with its own resident skeleton! The 3 adjoining residences were built in 1750 on the foundations of a Russian church. Visible through a glass panel is the tomb containing the skeleton of a monk, which was excavated in the 1970s but remains in situ. The real estate agency’s owner Leif Bertwig says there is no reason to be afraid as the skeleton “lies in consecrated soil and rests in peace.”
Love it. The skeleton is like the icing on the cake!
