Happy International Lefthanders Day to all readers of the sinistral persuasion (including my sister)! Speaking of handwriting, I wondered last week about the origin of the phrase "round robin," which is one of my favorites. As it turns out, it refers to a petition signed in a circle (pictured) so that the order of the signers was disguised and the ringleaders could not be identified - it originated in the 18th c. with sailors, who sent such a list of grievances to the captain.
