This classic photograph is of my great-grandfather Gerald Hatfield (1896-1971), a railroad man. He was not related by blood, but married Mary C. Hatfield (1892-1950), my dad's grandmother, who pronounced his name with a hard G. Dad has many fond memories and still has the workbench Grandpa Hatfield built for him when he was a boy!
