Dendrochronology

Looking at some photos taken by my uncle Chuck renewed my interest in dendrochronology. It took a lot of searching to find the image showing how the tree growth rings can be pinpointed to particular years, but in the process I learned about the use of this science to date archaeological finds like Viking ship burials. I haven't cross-referenced petrified wood with tree ring dating, but it may be worth a look at the best fossilized examples and seeing where my specimen fits in.
